Have you ever thought of caffeine as being a drug?
Because… IT IS!
Caffeine is one of the most socially acceptable drugs out there. It’s found in Coffee, Teas, Chocolate, many soft drinks, energy drinks, pain relievers, and most tons of over the counter medications.
Caffeine is defined as a drug because it stimulates the central nervous system, causing increased alertness.
But too much caffeine?
Is no Bueno…
It can cause anxiety, dizziness, irregular sleep patterns, headaches, and the jitters. Caffeine also may cause the body to lose calcium, and that can lead to bone loss over time. Consuming as little as 100 mg of caffeine a day can lead a person to become “dependent” on caffeine. This means that someone may develop withdrawal symptoms (like tiredness, irritability, and headaches) if he or she quits caffeine suddenly.
I experience these symptoms every time I cut coffee out of daily regimen. I notice when drinking coffee that I am more “wired” throughout the day. And after a few days without it, I feel much more steady throughout my day. Going to sleep, and sleeping throughout the night is also not as consistent for me.
However, I don’t have these symptoms with all forms of caffeine. I’ve found that when I am wanting the alertness that caffeine gives Matcha works and feels the best in my body. Matcha has about 50% less caffeine than coffee. However, unlike coffee, matcha also contains certain phytonutrients, like our friend L-theanine, that helps your body absorb the caffeine in your matcha tea latte slowly.
In my experience, that slow process is much more stable. Not as addictive. And doesn’t come with all the terrible side effects that other caffeine products (like coffee) come with.
However, I understand that not everyone is affected by coffee in this way, which is why I found the best, chemical free, mold free, low acid, coffee out there! Lifeboost coffee prides themselves on being shade grown which ensures that no mold is growing in your coffee, it’s organic which means it’s not being sprayed with any toxic chemicals and those two things right there are the way nature intended coffee to be.

Now, back to matcha.
Research (click here to learn more) suggests that green tea supports brain health and has anti-cancer, anti-obesity, anti-diabetes, and anti-inflammatory effects.
Matcha is so diverse, there are so many different makers, styles, and flavors that can be harnessed and drawn out of this green leafy magical creation. I encourage you if you want to give it a try, find one that suits your taste buds.
The main thing that I look for is vibrancy (bright green color) and always organic.
This is my favorite brand.
I hope this message finds you well, and you’re having an awesome weekend!
